What Would You Say to Graduates?

Commencement addresses are being deliver all across the country in the coming weeks, in venues as varied as grade schools and graduate schools. But what would you say to these graduates? What could be of supreme importance for them to hear?

The College Campus and the New Gender Revolution

As Karin Venable Morin points out in National Review, more and more college campuses are developing co-ed dorm rooms, even apart from students’ requests. As Dr. Mohler points out today, this is another example of the need for an intelligent Christian position on biblical gender roles and sexual norms.

Christian Families and the College Decision

Does where one attends college have a determinative effect on success in life? For a long time, American families have assumed so. But recent studies suggest that where students go to college is not nearly as important as what they do when they get there. On today’s program, Dr. Mohler looks at some of these…

Did Barack Obama Really Break New Ground in the Abortion Debate?

The final presidential debate raised the question of abortion for the first time in three such appearances to Barack Obama and John McCain. A number of pundits have suggested that Obama blazed a new and reconciliatory trail in the cultural division over Roe v. Wade. However, as Dr. Mohler argues on today’s program, Sen. Obama’s…

Apologize to Charles Darwin?

A senior cleric of the Church of England wants his church to apologize to Charles Darwin in time for the observance of the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth next year. The Rev. Dr. Malcolm Brown, Director of Mission and Public Affairs for the church, made his case in an article entitled, “Good Religion Needs Good…

A Crisis of Christian Ethics

The Society of Christian Ethics has proposed new Standards of Professional Conduct that significantly call into question the group’s commitment to anything resembling traditional Christian principles. Their moral ambiguity on issues of sexuality have prompted Prof. Daniel Heimbach, a longtime member, to recently resign his membership. On today’s program, Dr. Mohler welcomes Dr. Heimbach and…

Keeping the Faith on Campus

What happens when Christian young adults go to university? For many, it initiates a season of life marked by an intellectual crisis of identity; many don’t survive. On today’s program, Dr. Mohler is joined by University of Texas professor J. Budziszewski, author of How to Stay Christian in College.

Going To College And Leaving The Church

A newly released study from Lifeway Research suggests that a remarkably high number of young adults leave the church when they leave home for college. This raises a number of questions about how churches should view their ministry to children and adolescents.

What Would You Say To The Class Of 2007?

With graduation season upon us, students across the country will be subjected to a variety of commencement addresses. Some will be better than others, but on today’s program we’re curious to hear what you would say.

“Abortion is as American as Apple Pie” — The Culture of Death Finds a Voice

Abortion is now one of America’s most common surgical procedures performed on adults. As many as one out of three women will have at least one abortion. In some American neighborhoods, the number of abortions far exceeds the number of live births.

Learning from Christopher Hitchens: Lessons Evangelicals Must Not Miss

The death of Christopher Hitchens on December 15 was not unexpected, and that seemed only to add to the tragedy.  His fight against cancer had been lived, like almost every other aspect of his colorful life, in full public view. He had told numerous interviewers that he wanted to die in an active, not a passive sense. Then again, there may never have been a truly passive moment in Christopher Hitchens’ life.

President Obama and Same-Sex Marriage — The Dance Continues

Some predictions are rather safe to make. 2012 is almost certain to be a determinative year on the issue of same-sex marriage. Multiple courts appear poised to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act [DOMA] and, even more urgently, the appeal on California’s Proposition 8 at the Ninth Circuit U. S. Court of Appeals will set up a certain appeal to the U. S. Supreme Court. Given the facts of this case and the significance of the nation’s most populous state, the Supreme Court is almost certain to take the case. This sets the stage for the courts to make some determinative statement on same-sex marriage within the next several months — a decision that will go a long way toward setting the direction of the larger culture.
