No Need for God? Stephen Hawking Defies Divine Creation

Professor Stephen Hawking is a remarkable human being. His courage and tenacity are an inspiration to all. His work on the theory of gravity has changed the way the field of physics is taught. But, when he crosses that border from science to theology, his worldview leads him into abject disaster.

Liberalism and Society

A recent article in Forbes magazine reveals that liberals and liberalism have pervaded every sector of society.  From the media to the university, a progressive approach to not only public policy but also humanity itself sets the agenda in most culturally important institutions.  Christian discipleship demands that the Christian bring his mind under the Lordship…

Atheism Disguised as Orthodox Christianity

Does God exist?  The Wall Street Journal has recently run parallel stories that were supposed to be between an Atheist, Richard Dawkins, and a Christian, Karen Armstrong.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Karen Armstrong’s defense of Christianity sounds more like the atheist she is supposed to be refuting.  Christians should be careful to…

A Tale of Two Atheists

The Wall Street Journal may be an unusual venue for theological debate, but this past weekend’s edition featured just that — a theological debate of sorts.  The “of sorts” is a necessary qualifier in this instance, because The Wall Street Journal’s debate was not, as advertised, a debate between an atheist and a believer.  Instead, it was a debate between two different species of atheists.

The New Atheism: Summer Camps for the Godless

The dangers of disbelief are clear and present. The atheistic worldview seeks to take out all belief in God in modern life, and it will do so even by placing ads on street buses. From University professors to summer camps, atheism is trying to dominate the intellectual landscape. Listen as Dr. Mohler discusses the dangers…

The Christian Worldview and Fears of a Potential Epidemic

The spread of swine flu in certain parts of the world has sparked widespread media attention and general uneasiness. But should Christians have a distinctly Christian perspective on these developments? On today’s program, Dr. Mohler explores the biblical issues involved.

Not Even Close? — Is America Becoming a Post-Christian Culture?

Newsweek magazine’s cover story, “The Decline and Fall of Christian America” continues to evoke controversy and conversation, and much of it is illuminating. Now, Stephen Prothero of Boston University enters the fray with an incisive commentary that throws a few punches.

As Dr. Mohler notes on today’s program, Prothero asserts in today’s edition of USA Today…

Marvelous Suicide and Beneficial Abortion — Worldviews Matter

The current “Great Recession” brings a host of moral questions as we experience a massive economic earthquake. Indeed, some see the economic crisis as an opportunity to push the agenda of the Culture of Death. As Dr. Mohler points out on today’s program, the logic is clear — we would be better off if certain…

Has The ‘Twilight’ Phenomenon Reached Your Home?

Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster Twilight series has become a publishing phenomenon and, now, a blockbuster at the box office and DVD release. However, given their subject–adolescent vampire romance–many families are asking whether or not these books should be accepted reading material for their own daughters. On today’s program, Dr. Mohler examines the books and offers his…

Learning from Christopher Hitchens: Lessons Evangelicals Must Not Miss

The death of Christopher Hitchens on December 15 was not unexpected, and that seemed only to add to the tragedy.  His fight against cancer had been lived, like almost every other aspect of his colorful life, in full public view. He had told numerous interviewers that he wanted to die in an active, not a passive sense. Then again, there may never have been a truly passive moment in Christopher Hitchens’ life.

President Obama and Same-Sex Marriage — The Dance Continues

Some predictions are rather safe to make. 2012 is almost certain to be a determinative year on the issue of same-sex marriage. Multiple courts appear poised to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act [DOMA] and, even more urgently, the appeal on California’s Proposition 8 at the Ninth Circuit U. S. Court of Appeals will set up a certain appeal to the U. S. Supreme Court. Given the facts of this case and the significance of the nation’s most populous state, the Supreme Court is almost certain to take the case. This sets the stage for the courts to make some determinative statement on same-sex marriage within the next several months — a decision that will go a long way toward setting the direction of the larger culture.
