Once a sexual revolution is set loose, it inevitably runs its course through the culture.  While the current flashpoints of cultural conflict are focused on same-sex marriage and gender issues, others are biding their time.  As Newsweek magazine makes clear, some new flashpoints are getting restless.

“I’d like to live forever.” Thus reflected fashion designer extraordinaire Gianni Versace to a recent biographer. “If there’s one thing I’m afraid of,” he continued, “it’s missing what will happen tomorrow.”

Clear your calendar and call your friends – it’s Sexual Awareness Week in Britain. Actually, this is the very first Sexual Awareness Week in British history, and Her Majesty’s government is all fired up to do its part.

The City by the Bay is at it again. These days, moral outrage does not come naturally to San Francisco. The Bay Area, famous as the “playpen of countercultures,” does not often get worked up about a sexual scandal. After all, in San Francisco, it’s hard to create a sexual scandal.

America is under attack, she warns, and only an all-out effort will save the Republic. Like a modern-day Paul Revere, Jane Fonda is sounding the alarm and calling patriots to action.

Controversies and debates about gender define much of today’s cultural landscape.  In reality, if you take away all debates about gender, gender roles, and sexuality, our world would be a much quieter place.  Nevertheless, the world we know is a world increasingly in revolt against the idea that gender is assigned by our Creator and is thus a fixed category.

Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, made headlines last summer when it was revealed that she was about to become an unwed mother.  On December 27, she gave birth to a baby boy named Tripp.  Now, Bristol Palin is back in the news again — and this time by her own choice.  She granted an interview to Fox News Channel’s “On the Record.”

The release of a report entitled “Sex and the Seminary” is certain to attract attention — which is no doubt why the report was produced in the first place.  In this case, the report is an attempt to push the sexual revolution through institutions designed for the training of ministers.  As “Sex and the Seminary” makes clear, many liberal institutions joined the sexual revolution long ago.
