Where Did I Come From? – It’s No Longer a Simple Question

It is as if we are now living on a new planet — one in which all the natural boundaries of sex and reproduction have been left behind. The technologies of reproduction are redefining sex, marriage, relationships, family, and the human story.

Are Preachers Too Silent About Sex?

More sex in the pulpit? That’s the call from the Religious Institute — a liberal organization that advocates “progressive” understandings of human sexuality. The group has issued a new report, “Spirituality and Religion 2020″ that spells out goals for the next decade.

Mandatory Sex Education for Ten-Year-Olds? Yours?

The International Planned Parenthood Federation [IPPF] has a plan for your child — and for every young person on earth. The influential group is calling for compulsory comprehensive sexuality education for every child and young person ages 10 to 24 on the planet.

Sex Education for 10 Year Olds?

A new study by Planned Parenthood urges intensive sex education for 10 year olds.  The study asserts that because teens will be sexually active, sex education should start at younger ages and include information on how to make sex itself more pleasurable.  On today’s program, Dr. Mohler critiques this study urging parents to be on…

Having the Talk: Educating Your Children About Sex

Parents are finding that their children know a startling amount of information about sex from a very young age.  A recent study published by Pediatrics suggests that conversations about sex between parents and children needs to happen much sooner.  By the time conversations happen, children have experienced far more sex talk than their parents would…

Hidden Ideologies of Sex Education

Sex education is hardly innocent. Much of the material being taught to students is ideologically motivated and birthed from an inherently secular worldview. This ideology is often intentionally subversive to the values that parent’s have for their children, and parents are usually ignorant to what their children are being taught. On today’s program, Dr. Mohler…

True Lips Wait? Sexual Abstinence, Romantic Longing, and Monogamous Lips

This will come as no news to most younger evangelicals, but The Tennessean [Nashville] has just taken notice of the fact that a sizable number of younger evangelical couples are saving their first kiss for their wedding ceremony.

Parental Authority and Sex Education

The cultural divide is often nowhere more evident than in debates over parental authority and sex education in public schools. On today’s program, Dr. Mohler points to a number of recent developments that raise pressing questions for Christian families.

The Palin Parable — Bristol Says Abstinence “Not Realistic At All”

Bristol Palin is back in the headlines, and some Americans may be shocked. Bristol told Fox News that teenagers should not have sex. However, she also said that sexual abstinence for teens is “not realistic at all.” On today’s program, Dr. Mohler notes that the real issue here is our responsibility to ensure that abstinence…

The Palin Parable — Bristol Says Abstinence “Not Realistic At All”

Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, made headlines last summer when it was revealed that she was about to become an unwed mother.  On December 27, she gave birth to a baby boy named Tripp.  Now, Bristol Palin is back in the news again — and this time by her own choice.  She granted an interview to Fox News Channel’s “On the Record.”

Learning from Christopher Hitchens: Lessons Evangelicals Must Not Miss

The death of Christopher Hitchens on December 15 was not unexpected, and that seemed only to add to the tragedy.  His fight against cancer had been lived, like almost every other aspect of his colorful life, in full public view. He had told numerous interviewers that he wanted to die in an active, not a passive sense. Then again, there may never have been a truly passive moment in Christopher Hitchens’ life.

President Obama and Same-Sex Marriage — The Dance Continues

Some predictions are rather safe to make. 2012 is almost certain to be a determinative year on the issue of same-sex marriage. Multiple courts appear poised to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act [DOMA] and, even more urgently, the appeal on California’s Proposition 8 at the Ninth Circuit U. S. Court of Appeals will set up a certain appeal to the U. S. Supreme Court. Given the facts of this case and the significance of the nation’s most populous state, the Supreme Court is almost certain to take the case. This sets the stage for the courts to make some determinative statement on same-sex marriage within the next several months — a decision that will go a long way toward setting the direction of the larger culture.
