Ministering To Our Military: How The Church Can Serve Those Who Defend Us

All too often churches are unsure of how to serve and minister to military families in their midst. Many of us simply don’t understand what it is like to have a spouse or parent deployed. On today’s program, Dr. Mohler welcomes retired Lt. Gen. Pat Caruana into the studio for a helpful conversation about how…

Are Parents Surrendering Control?

An 8-year-old yells at his father trying to make him put his coat on, calling him a “control-freak.”  The New York Times cover story from May 23, 2010, “Every Hug, Every Fuss” documents this conversation recorded by researchers from the UCLA, who have been following 32 families for 3 years, videotaping every move.  The dual-earner,…

A Black Cat in a Dark Room — Are Theologians Really Saying Anything?

The true and living God desires to be known and has made himself known. That makes all the difference. True theology is not explaining the unknowable, but coming to know the God who wants us to know him. Theology is about knowledge — indeed, about the knowledge that matters most of all.

Why Do People Do Stupid Things?

While the question may seem a bit odd, the daily newspaper provides indisputable evidence that people do stupid things.  From lying about their past military service to adulterous affairs, human beings do stupid things because human beings are sinners.  On today’s program, Dr. Mohler not only argues that people make irrational decisions because of sin…

Has Man Created Life?

Just days ago, Dr. Craig Venter and his associates announced the achievement of the first synthetic life form, a bacterium with DNA sequenced entirely by computer — a human-designed life form.  The international media have seized upon the news, published officially in the journal Science.  On today’s program, Dr. Mohler discusses this issue with Dr….

Has Man Created Life?

Humanity had better think hard about whether this is a journey we are ready to entrust to scientists alone. The most urgent question raised by this new announcement is not so much what it means, but where it leads.

Pornography — The Difference Being a Parent Makes

Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, recently sent an email asserting his company’s right to refuse to sell pornography.  Answering the objection that he was “imposing his morality about porn,” Mr. Jobs informed a disgruntled customer that he might think differently about pornography if he were a parent.  On today’s program, Dr. Mohler discusses how being…

Pornography — The Difference Being a Parent Makes

Steve Jobs is a businessman of unquestioned ability, a technological wizard, and one of the greatest orchestrators of “cool” in world history. Nevertheless, he has not been known as a critic of pornography . . . until now.

Nature-Deficit Disorder–Have Children Forgotten How to Play Outdoors?

With summer quickly approaching it is important that Christian parents teach their children the value of being outside in the world that God has created. In this age of video games and 24 hour television options, many young children have a “nature deficit disorder.” On today’s program, Dr. Mohler talks with Richard Louv, author of…

The Gospel for Muslims: An Interview with Thabiti Anyabwile

Franklin Graham’s recent comments calling Islam a false religion caused quite a controversy in the public sphere.  As the West becomes increasingly secular, it is generally assumed that holding to the exclusive truths of the gospel over and against another religious truth claim is out of bounds.  On today’s program, Dr. Mohler discusses this important…

Learning from Christopher Hitchens: Lessons Evangelicals Must Not Miss

The death of Christopher Hitchens on December 15 was not unexpected, and that seemed only to add to the tragedy.  His fight against cancer had been lived, like almost every other aspect of his colorful life, in full public view. He had told numerous interviewers that he wanted to die in an active, not a passive sense. Then again, there may never have been a truly passive moment in Christopher Hitchens’ life.

President Obama and Same-Sex Marriage — The Dance Continues

Some predictions are rather safe to make. 2012 is almost certain to be a determinative year on the issue of same-sex marriage. Multiple courts appear poised to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act [DOMA] and, even more urgently, the appeal on California’s Proposition 8 at the Ninth Circuit U. S. Court of Appeals will set up a certain appeal to the U. S. Supreme Court. Given the facts of this case and the significance of the nation’s most populous state, the Supreme Court is almost certain to take the case. This sets the stage for the courts to make some determinative statement on same-sex marriage within the next several months — a decision that will go a long way toward setting the direction of the larger culture.
