An Interview with Marvin Olasky

From atheistic Communism to Christianity, Marvin Olasky’s journey to the Christian faith is one of the most compelling stories of our day.  As a leading Christian intellectual, Dr. Olasky was the engine behind President George W. Bush’s compassionate conservative approach to governing.  On today’s show, Dr. Mohler interviews Dr. Olasky discussing everything from his own…

An Interview with Ligon Duncan

In an age that is characterized by an anti-doctrinal, anti-theological spirit, it is rare for individuals to even have serious theological conversations, much less to maintain unity in the midst of real differences.  Together for the Gospel is a demonstration that such relationships can and do exist.  On today’s show, Dr. Mohler sits down for…

Can We Afford to Get Married?

A recent newspaper article reveals that the average cost of an American wedding is now $28,000.  This astonishing reality forces many young couples to ask themselves if they can afford to get married.  On today’s show, Dr. Mohler addresses this important topic challenging Christians to consider whether we have accepted the culture’s assumptions about weddings.  A…

Can Animals Be Gay?

Efforts to claim a genetic basis for homosexuality are rooted in the assumption that our genes tell us what God’s intention for us is. In a fallen world, that is a faulty assumption. Only the Word of God can tell us what God’s intention is.

Christians Engage the Media

The recent decline in the Cable News Network’s (CNN) ratings indicates that Americans are more interested in a polarized approach to news, whether from the right or the left.  An important component of the American cultural landscape, cable news holds significant influence in the way many Americans learn what is happening in the world.  Yet,…

Render Unto Caesar? On Paying Taxes After Obamacare

The recent passage of health care legislation by the United States Congress has many Christians concerned that their tax dollars could potentially be used to subsidize government-funded abortions.  On today’s show, Dr. Mohler discusses this important topic.  In the book of Mark, Jesus replies to those who sought to trap him to render under Caesar…

“The Essential Edwards Collection” – An Interview with Owen Strachan

Widely-caricatured as nothing more than a puritanical 18th century thinker, Jonathan Edwards is only known by many for his sermon, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.  And yet, Edwards’ life and works have lasted well beyond his own day, and he is rightly considered by many to be America’s greatest Christian theologian.  On…

Good Friday Conversation with Michael Horton: Preaching the Cross in a Postmodern Age

A recent study reveals that while the rising generation is willing to identify vaguely with spirituality, it is hesitant to associate itself with any explicit truth claims.  How do Christians discuss the exclusive claims of the gospel in a postmodern world that is adverse to the very idea of truth?  On today’s show, Dr. Mohler discusses this topic with Dr. Michael Horton, Professor of…

Render Unto Caesar? On Paying Taxes After Obamacare

We do not “render unto Caesar” because of our confidence in Caesar. We render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, because we are committed with our lives and confidence and consciences to render unto God that which is God’s.

Learning from Christopher Hitchens: Lessons Evangelicals Must Not Miss

The death of Christopher Hitchens on December 15 was not unexpected, and that seemed only to add to the tragedy.  His fight against cancer had been lived, like almost every other aspect of his colorful life, in full public view. He had told numerous interviewers that he wanted to die in an active, not a passive sense. Then again, there may never have been a truly passive moment in Christopher Hitchens’ life.

President Obama and Same-Sex Marriage — The Dance Continues

Some predictions are rather safe to make. 2012 is almost certain to be a determinative year on the issue of same-sex marriage. Multiple courts appear poised to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act [DOMA] and, even more urgently, the appeal on California’s Proposition 8 at the Ninth Circuit U. S. Court of Appeals will set up a certain appeal to the U. S. Supreme Court. Given the facts of this case and the significance of the nation’s most populous state, the Supreme Court is almost certain to take the case. This sets the stage for the courts to make some determinative statement on same-sex marriage within the next several months — a decision that will go a long way toward setting the direction of the larger culture.
