Falling Fertility Makes for Happy Economists?

Is the fact that fertility rates are falling around the world a good thing?  According to the Economist, the answer is yes.  Falling birth rates in certain parts of the world are no surprise.  The alarming nature of recent news is that the Economist sees this as good news.  According to the magazine, only half of humanity will have high enough birth rates to replace itself.  On today’s program, Dr. Mohler notes the danger and moral heinousness of regulating birth rates in any form.  Children are a gift from the Lord.  To give them up for the sake of economic gain is morally repulsive.
