Sex and the Supremacy of Christ, edited by John Piper and Justin Taylor has now been released by Crossway Books. The book includes all the presentations made at the conference of the same title, held last year in Minneapolis. The book includes my chapter on the challenge of same-sex marriage as well as essays by John Piper, Justin Taylor, C. J. Mahaney, Mark Dever, David Powlison, Ben Patterson, and others.
Here’s my chapter in summary: “We must be the people who cannot talk about sex without talking about marriage, and the people who can’t talk about anything of substance or significance without dependence on the Bible. We must be the people who have a theology adequate to explain the deadly deception of sin, as well as a theology adequate to explain Christ’s victory over sin. We must be honest about sin as the denial of God’s glory, even as we point to redemption as the glory of God restored. We must be the people who love homosexuals more than homosexuals love homosexuality, and we must be the people who tell the truth about homosexual marriage and refuse even to accept its conceptual possibility, because we know what is st stake.”
Desiring God has demonstrated true generosity by posting the addresses in audio form even as the book includes a DVD presentation. Crossway has posted an excellent video site as well. Justin Taylor has posted some early reviews at his excellent weblog, Between Two Worlds. Other reviews are listed through Diet of Bookworms.
